The Gospel of Thomas (v.8)

Humankind is like a wise fesherman who cast his net into the sea.  He drew it out of the sea full of small fish.  The wise fisherman found among them a large, good fish.  He threw all the small fish back into the sea and chose the large fish without hesitation.  Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.

Humanity is always looking for answers.  We want reasons for why things are the way they are, why life is the way it is.  Those who are discerning in their search eventually come to learn their is only one source rich enough, large enough to hold the answers we seek, and it isn’t found out there, but inside the very ONE asking the questions.  The path to the answers we seek, the journey to understanding, begins when we look within ourselves.  All the other sources can be set free, for the only source GOOD enough, deep enough, already resides within us.

  1. Zion, this is so true! Why doesn’t the majority understand this? I pray for others to understand this!

  2. But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

So is the teaching of self…and that God resides in all of us. The Holy Spirit resides in those who have called upon Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives and have turned away from the life of sinfulness.

    God bless.

    • “I give this brief explanation to the Gospel of Thomas because I want those who were raised in Sunday School or the conservative fundamentalist to understand, this is an exposition into Wisdom and Truth, not the herald of Christ taught in Church…I leave that for each person to decide for themselves. I have the unique experience of having been a conservative fundamentalist, in both Protestant and Catholic circles, as well as studied under liberal Religious Studies Professors, and along my journey have found I am no longer contained by any Religious boundaries, so when I sift through something for understanding, I don’t have a line I can’t cross, I don’t have a Theology that HAS to be FACT. I just listen and now I write. When I write about what I hear from Jesus, I’m listening to a humble man with a POWERFUL message, and that in itself, is Wisdom incarnate.” from my page http://iamzion.com/gospel-of-thomas/

    • I am not religious either. Religion is derived from the word ligos, latin, which means to tie or to bind. Religion in itself is associated with the word cult. You can do as you wish, but the only line that should be drawn should be based off of what Jesus said..not what little old you or me say..but Jesus. Anything else is false teaching. We are to please God, not the world. “Be ye separate” the bible says. I am non denominational, so religion means nothing to me. However, when someone seeks to please the world instead of GOd, they will be in trouble. You should speak truth from God’s word. The Word of God talks about itching ears, or sometimes, it is translated tickling the ears..that is what we do when we say what is going to ‘not offend’ the world..or ‘please the world’. Demons get mad when we speak truth, so when people get angry or are turned off by the truth, it is the principalities of darkness hwom you are stirring. What you are I say, without God, has no power whatsoever. It is meaningless. What God says and what His living word says has power and meaning. When we see a Christian perverting God’s truth, it is our job as believers to correct them, else we fall short of what He has asked us to do. I have said as the Lord has led me to say to you. There is no more. You know. So let the Spirit of truth convict you as He may. If not, God help you.

    • I’m sorry but your very first line reveals what you are and what you’re about. You are a deceiver, a false teacher, Sir, who has tasted and denied that righteous fruit that our Eternal God has provided to eat of if we so choose. You Sir are a man carried upon the waves and tossed about by every wind of doctrine and false teaching, with no anchor to hold you in place. You said so yourself you have no line you can’t cross. Jesus Christ made a line drawn very plainly in the sand for all to see, and His commandments are clear and to the point. The Bible in it’s current form is the very “Word of God,” complete, inerrant, and infallible. The Bible speaks for itself, and is it’s own best commentary and it’s you who will be judged and condemned by it.
